My Time to Shine

My Time to Shine (MTTS) is a once a week, summer program that will teach your kids the basics from Do-Re-Mi to the step touch. The energetic and professional environment is perfect for your kids to have fun and progress with their talents. The three performances offer a variety of experiences on stage with different audiences that showcase their progression. Your child will flourish in talent and in character with My Time To Shine!

And new this year, we’re partnering Activial Pursuit to offer White Rabbit Magic Camp to MTTS participants at a discounted rate!

My Time to Shine Program Information:

Practices:

  • Thursdays, June 13 – August 1 (no practice July 4)
  • at the First Presbyterian Church of Brighton (510 South 27th Ave., Brighton, CO 80601)
  • see age groups below for times

Performances:

  • July 20 at Carpenter Park Amphitheatre (5:00 pm)
  • July 27 at the Buffalo Bills Day Parade (AM)
  • Aug 2 at Adams City High School (7:00 pm)

Don’t worry about family vacations, all new choreography will be recorded and put on a shared video site. Go, enjoy your vacation and the kids will still have fun practicing wherever they go!

Fees and Payments:
– $100 Camp Fee (1st Child). $20 Discount per sibling.
– Fee includes costume, practice music, class and individual pictures

– Payments can be made via cash, check, credit card or Venmo. Half of the camp fee is due by June 10 and half by July 10.

Age Groups:

  • Starlets [Ages 3-5] —9:00-9:45 –An active fun class that will focus on teaching familiar exciting songs with simple dance movements to develop coordination and confidence
  • Blaze [Ages 6-8] -9:45-10:30– This class provides an energizing environment that introduces musical harmony and dance techniques to provide dynamic performances.
  • Flash [Ages 9-11]— 10:30-11:30 –This class combines musical rhythms with simple dance technique. It will challenge hand eye coordination and develop confidence for performing on stage.
  • Glitz [Ages 12 +] —11:30-12:30 –Get excited about gaining some dance technical training; turning, leaping, balance and expression while learning some of Broadway’s most popular music.
  • Starz [High School] 12:30-1:30 – Theatre for Young Audiences – Short drama production where the students will perform a children’s play. No singing or dancing, just acting.

Have a child with a summer birthday and unsure of which class you should sign them up for? Starlets is perfect for the kids who have not gone to Kindergarten. If you have gone to Kindergarten, sign up for Blaze. If you have just finished 5th Grade sign up for Flash. Glitz is perfect for those kids who have been in Middle or High School.


Teachers:

Leslie Zirker

Leslie enjoys teaching the arts to kids while watching them grow in confidence and skills. She choreographed/co-directed Chatfield High School’s musicals for 10 years and is currently a choreographer for the Colorado Children’s Chorale. Leslie has co-directed Platte Valley Players Children’s Theater for the past ten years. Leslie has been a part of many professional musical groups over the years. She enjoys the opportunity to teach her own kids and share in these experiences with them.

Elizabeth Bohannon

Elizabeth grew up in St. George, UT. She grew up in a musical family, and her love for performing and theater started at a young age. She graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in Theater Education, and a minor in Spanish Teaching. She loves teaching, and inspiring youth to be their best selves. She and her husband, and two little kids, moved to Colorado last May, and hope to stay here a long time. She Co-directed with Platte Valley Players this year and loved working with the kids. She’s excited to continue to teach this summer.
